Chief Executive Officer

Mike Shannon joined Houghton International as Vice President Global Operations, Supply Chain, Information Technologies (IT) and Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) on June 15, 2009. He most recently served as Chief Operating Officer responsible for all global commercial and operational activities. He has over 30 years of diverse International leadership experience in building global specialty chemical businesses.

Prior to joining Houghton, Mr. Shannon spent 24 years at Ashland Inc. as a Corporate Officer and President of Global Supply Chain. His previous experience includes record setting performance as Senior Vice President of Ashland’s $1.5B Global Performance Materials Division and Vice President/General Manager of the Petrochemicals Division. Mr. Shannon also served in various functions including manufacturing, business development, purchasing, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic planning.

Mr. Shannon holds a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Temple University. In addition, he has completed the General Manager Program at Harvard University, Executive Marketing Program at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Business and the Executive Development Program at Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business.

Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

Keller Arnold joined Houghton International as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer on October 20, 2014. Ms. Arnold brings over 25 years of experience and leadership in corporate accounting, audit and finance in global manufacturing organizations.

Prior to joining Houghton, Ms. Arnold served as CFO of Physiotherapy Associates, the largest stand-alone outpatient physical therapy business in the U.S. Prior to that role, she held a wide variety of management and leadership positions at General Electric and Tyco International. As CFO of Tyco Flow Control, she helped develop significant revenue growth and compliance standards, and as VP of corporate financial planning and analysis, she helped lead the largest tax- free spin in U.S. corporate history as well as many complex international business acquisitions and divestitures. At GE, Ms. Arnold served as staff executive to the vice chairman, instituting significant financial improvements across the global multi-industry corporation. Prior to that position, she held key financial roles at a series of GE companies, rising to CFO of GE Silicones, where she supported a variety of global business acquisitions and turnarounds. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama and several corporate financial, management and leadership training programs.

Jeewat Bijlani

Jeewat Bijlani joined Houghton International in December 2011 with responsibility for global marketing, strategic planning and business development. Prior to joining Houghton, Mr. Bijlani was a Director in the Private Equity Services Group at Celerant Consulting. In his six years at Celerant, he worked to establish the Revenue Enhancement and Private Equity practice, and led strategic and business transformation engagements in the Chemicals and Manufacturing sector. He has been associated with Houghton since 2008, driving the Operational Excellence program, post-merger integration of DA Stuart and the recent integration of Shell MWF into the Houghton organization.

Prior to joining Celerant, Mr. Bijlani held roles in FFB/Green Seed Group and Holcim India Ltd in strategic planning and business development. Mr. Bijlani earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Economics from the University of Mumbai and an M.B.A. in International Business from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Senior Vice President, Houghton International, President, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and President, Global Automotive and Aerospace

Kevin Smith joined Houghton International on February 1, 2016 as Senior Vice President, Houghton International and President, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Global Automotive and Aerospace. He is responsible for the general management of Houghton’s EMEA region and the global leadership of Houghton specialty product lines for the major transportation industry segments, including automotive and aerospace.

Mr. Smith brings to Houghton over 30 years of commercial and general management experience in the industrial, specialty chemical and strategic consulting industries.  Prior to joining Houghton, he held the position of chief executive officer, EMEA for Arysta Lifescience, a $1.6 billion global specialty crop protection firm. Prior to Arysta, he held the executive position of Group Managing Director, Europe for Sun Chemical, the $3.8 billion number one producer of industrial printing inks and pigments in the global market. Early in his career, Mr. Smith worked for Perkins Engines, based in Wayne, Michigan and Cresap Telesis (a Towers Perrin company), based in Paris, France, both in commercial and business leadership roles.  Most recently, he held a two-year advisory role supporting private equity investments in specialty chemical businesses both in Western Europe and globally. He earned a bachelor’s degree in French from Leeds University and an M.B.A. from London Business School.

Dave Slinkman joined Houghton International in March 2012 as Vice President of Technology.  He joined Houghton from Nalco where he served as Global Technology Leader, overseeing Global Research in the areas of Mining, Colloidal Technology, and Analytical Services since 2008.

Prior assignments at Nalco include Research and Development Manager for the Finishing Technologies Group, which encompassed both metal working fluids and surface treatment products, and Technical Director for the Paper Chemicals Group.

Dr. Slinkman earned his B.S. in chemistry from Benedictine University and his PhD from the University of Michigan in analytical chemistry.

Pete Macaluso joined Houghton International in November 2013 as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. Before joining Houghton, Mr. Macaluso served as Vice President, Corporate Counsel and Secretary at Amicus Therapeutics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing therapies for rare and orphan diseases.

Prior to Amicus, Mr. Macaluso served as Senior Corporate Legal Counsel at global specialty chemicals company Rockwood Holdings, Inc.

Mr. Macaluso earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.

Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer

Kym Johnson joined Houghton International as Chief Human Resources Officer on June 1, 2015.  Ms. Johnson brings over 23 years of experience in the chemical industry and 17 years of global human resources leadership to the Houghton executive team.

Prior to joining Houghton, Ms. Johnson served as Vice President, Human Resources & CHRO of FMC Corporation, a global chemical company with over $4 billion in sales and more than 6,000 employees. She began her career as a chemist at FMC and advanced through successive human resources roles, including the leadership of HR for the Asia Pacific region in Shanghai.  She returned to the U.S. to lead global talent management and global human resources for FMC.  As an HR executive, Ms. Johnson has established and led critical initiatives related to global talent management, employee engagement, compensation, succession planning, HR information systems, change management and communications. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Delaware and her master’s degree in human resources management from Rutgers University.
